Hi! It isn't zener. It's more likely to be varistor or surge-supressor. I think those devices are parts of RS232-RS485 interface converter. You should spread the area of "bmp window" so that the others can see and suggest more conveniently. Please be patient to edit your pict.

Those parts are Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS). The part numbers usually include TVS. It will work fine without them. Just don't static shock the pins. Edited 12 May 2006 by larry818
