LabView -->PLC connectivity

I am looking for any advice in connecting a MicroLogix (1000 for testing, possibly a 1500 later) up to my notebook with LabView on it. Has anybody done this? I would like to be able to use the LabView software for data collection and possibly data table manipulation. I have ordered a demo copy of HighwayView from softwarewithrelish.com (Software eng group). Has anybody used this software? Are there better ways to do this? All of this "testing" as I like to call it, is R&D for a tank farm automation upgrade I will be doing in the near future. Thanks.
