Logix5555 and DirectLogix 205 CPU Comms

2 posts in this topic

Doing a project in which I will need to connect a DirectLogic 205 to a Logix 5000 processor and send a few decimal values to the 5000 cpu. I have E-Net available on the Logix rack and an available serial port on the CPU. What (in your opinion) would be the best way to transfer data from the 205 to the 5000 cpu. a DCM E-Net Module, MODBUS?? and what type, as I see there are a few different Modules Any Logic examples would also be helpful.. I am currently doing a similar project. I am using a "Real Time Automation" 451EM Modbus Master Gateway. It converts the rs232/485 modbus to Ethernet/IP. You add it as a device on your enet card, and configure what points to read/write to. It looks like it should work nicely.
