PRO- You don't need to worry about loosing your program if anf when the backup battery dies... CON- Someone may update the EPROM and make the EPROM change permanant by mistake which will not allow any more program changes.

I speak from a SLC 500 perspective, but another CON to the backup memory module is whenever you make a change to the program, you have to remember to update the EEPROM as well. This is a real PITA on the 5/03-5/05, since you must go out of RUN mode to do this, and it seems like it takes forever :( Also, RSLogix isn't set up to REMIND you that it is in there and needs to be updated.. For all the warnings and reminders is DOES have, you'd think they'd do a little more coding and put that one in! If you forget to write your changes to the EEPROM, you get a phone call on Monday morning at 5 AM from production saying "I see it ran for you Friday night, so why won't it work for us when we powered it back up this morning?!"
