RSLOGIX 5000 ethernet

7 posts in this topic

I have 2 rslogix 5000 that have a 1756-enet cards in their racks. They go to a switching hub. I want to pull data from 1 plc into another using the ethernet. Any directions on doing this would greatly be appreciated. Probably real easy, just can't think of it.

If you have very old 1756-ENET Series A modules, then all you can do is trigger a MSG instruction in one controller to read tags from the other controller. If you have 1756-ENET Series B modules (or Series A modules that have been flash upgraded to Series B firmware) you can use the I/O functionality of the EtherNet/IP protocol to do a "Produced / Consumed" tag pair. Read up in the Help files about how these work; they are the simplest way to interlock Logix controllers over Ethernet.
