90-30 IC693CPU363-CH Communications Issue

3 posts in this topic

Hi,

I have an issue with a GE 90-30 (Part. Nr. IC693CPU363-CH) talking to ABB Drives on Port 2 (DB15) of the processor. After running the process it will eventually trip out on Communications Fault on the HMI, --> when this happens Modbus Fieldplugs connected to the 2x ABB Drive and 1x ABB Overload Indicate an Error --> the same happens if I disconnect the cable on Port 2 of the PLC.

The ABB Drives are connected in series via MODBUS-RTU FieldBusPlug MRP21-FBP to the Port 2 of the GE PLC and I expect it to be a shielding issue at this stage. I really tried hard to find some proper GE/Emerson Manuals but they don't seem to exist, does anybody have any tips where to find GE/Emerson PLC Manuals? So that I can check the Pinout of Port 2 before re-attending site?

120 Ohm Resistor was only installed at the field end but the same issue still appeared after temporary installing a 2nd Resistor at the PLC end.

The DB 15 Plug connected to Port 2 is soldered badly and I will redo this. Pin Out as below

  • External 24V + OV (Same as supplied to the PLC) supplied to Pin 2+3 on the Field Bus Plugs (See attached Manual Page 13)
  • TX and RX to Pin 4+5 at Field Bus Plugs (See attached Manual Page 13)
  • TX and RX to Pin 10+11 on DB 15 Connector at PLC Port 2

Theres are also 5 Bridges installed on DB 15 Connector at PLC Port as below

  • Pin 6-15
  • Pin 8-14
  • Pin 9-10
  • Pin 10-12
  • Pin 11-13

Any help appreciated, especially on where to find GE Manuals!
