1747-KE Interface module

2 posts in this topic

Has anyone ever done a application on the SLC platform with a 1747-KE interface RS232/DH-485 card? I found one of these in an old panel and am curious about what it can be used for.

The KE module was used to interface a SLC CPU w/a modem or other RS-232 device. It does not communicate over the backplane, so you had to configure the DF-1 port on the SLC for DH-485 comms and connect it to the the DH-485 port on the KE. The external device connected to one of the RE-232 ports (the other port was used for configuration of the KE module). Now that slot-mounted modem modules are available, and they can communicate over the backplane, you don't see these used much anymore.
