slc 500 programming

if i only have one slc 500 and i use the usb programmer do i need to have rs linx. i remember using linx at school but we had like 10 or them networked together with a panel view

RSlogix 500 software should come with RS Linx Classic Lite which should be all you need to link to the SLC by serial conection or if you are using an ethernet card or a SLC 5/05 by ethernet you shouldn't need a seperate licence as long as you are not setting up an OPC server or other complex system requiring full time PC connection to the network
