Logix5000 Task Montior Tool 2.4.1 for L1 Compact Logix

5 posts in this topic

Has anyone gotten the Logix5000 Task Monitor Tool 2.4.1 to work with a Version 21 L1 Compact Logix? When I run the Task Monitor Tool, it just locks up.

DISCLAIMER: I have never seen the problem that you're describing ... but ... CompactLogix "L1" doesn't sound exactly right ... can you give us the full catalog number? ... is your version of RSLinx "better than" the Lite version? ... I haven't fired up a copy of RSLogix5000 Version 21 yet – so I can't say for certain whether the concepts in the following thread are relevant to your situation – but since you're dealing with "CompactLogix" and "Tasks" I'll mention this just for reference ... http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?showtopic=21633&view=findpost&p=104275 and here ... http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?p=438401&postcount=13 as explained in the posts, the CompactLogix systems (at least the versions I've been dealing with) use a behind-the-scenes task with a priority of 6 to transfer the I/O signals ... this can become an issue for fast-action systems when the priorities of other tasks are set up to outrank the I/O task ... Ron, Here is a link to the "L1" CompactLogix. http://www.ab.com/en/epub/catalogs/12762/2181376/2416247/407648/7921716/CompactLogix-5370-Controllers.html 1769-L16ER-BB1B I call it a micrologix KILLER, because it only cost $1300 retail for 16 in, 16 out, dual ports, USB programming, and it's a TAG based PLC.... I think I figured this one out, there is a task running pretty hard and it seemed like it could not service the tool. I placed the PLC into PROGRAM mode to stop the busy task and that worked. I have also been able to correct the problem in the PLC as well. Thanks for the links.

thank you, Chris, for the link to that CompactLogix "matrix" page ... I've put that in my Favorites for future reference ... now I see where I went wrong earlier – I just ASSUMED (yeah, I know, I know) that Allen-Bradley would have kept some sort of consistency in their catalog/sales numbers ... now I know (or at least I "think" that I know) the secret handshake ... hoodah-thunkit?
