PanelView Plus 1000 software error

I have a customer who has a PV+ 1000 (all touch) and is getting this "Error #2 Terminal software stopped responding" and it gives them the option to continue booting or go into safe mode. In safe mode, they can access the configuration and from there, run the MER file, but that is it. They don't have the original application and I am waiting for a copy of the MER file to see if it is a version I can even roll-back. If not, our options are limited obviously, but I have never seen this error before and I get ZERO results when searching it out. Anyone here ever see it?
