Taking image of HDD running UNIX

Hi, I have done image of HDD running Windows, NT several times for migration purpose, but I am not able to take image of HDD in use with UNIX. Norten ghost is not reading the UNIX HDD. Any suggestions. thanks & regards K.Parimalam

You don't need Norton on Unix.... Just use dd command.

That would be something like: dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb Where /dev/hda is the name of the drive to be mirrored and /dev/hdb is the target.

Thanks for info I want to clone the HDD, which is in use with SPARC processor running UNIX. I have tried the above-described HDD to clone using Norton Ghost. Norton Ghost is not reading the HDD loaded with UNIX. Also the HDD OS is protected with PW etc.. and used in Dedicated SPARC processor PC to provide DCS / automation systems of Diesel Engines. Please provide some more info to clone the HDD in question. thanks & regards K.Parimalam
