Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has attempted to pull data in or out of a database with a ML directly or do I need to go through a VB app over OPC? Thanks, -Pat

Well, if you want to do it yourself you will need to know the protocol for the ML and make all the ruests and responses your self. At a minimum you will need a communicaitons driver. Kepware's AB Server suite can provide the communications for that. We also have a Datalogger plug-in that you can configure to log data to one or more tables in a database. Datalogger runs as a plug-in to the server so you do not need an external client applicaiton to read the data and then write it to the DB. http://www.kepware.com

It's way easier for you with OPC. Especially MatrikonOPC Server for Allen Bradley. It automatically discovers of the AB devices and enables you to quickly configure it by loading device configuration files.l5k, .pc5, and .slc... . It also supports device level redundancy and tag level security to making it the most secure and reliable solution. All that at a cheaper price and free exceptional support. Here is a link to download the OPC Server: http://www.matrikonopc.com/opc-drivers/299...er-details.aspx To access your DB, you can use the OPC Client for ODBC to write and read your data. here is a link to download it: http://www.matrikonopc.com/products/opc-ar...t-for-odbc.aspx Let me know if you need any assistance with this. You should check Ignition by Inductive Automation. The OPC server is free and they have a SQL Bridge to do exactly what you want. www.inductiveautomation.com
