Panelview Plus Multi_line alarm screen

2 posts in this topic

Good day! I was wondering if there way any way to assign a button in the [ALARM MULTI-LINE] screen so that when a specific alarm even is highlighted you can view a description of that alarm. For example, if a hydraulic pressure falls too low and an alarm is triggered, you can highlight the alarm and select "More info". the more info display may include a few troubleshooting steps etc. Any pointer in the right direction would be appreciated, thanks.

No, not with the currently shipping version of the PVP (running FactoryTalk View Machine Edition 5.1). However, FactoryTalk View Site Edition does offer the functionality that you are looking for with Alarms & Events. That allows an action to occur when an operator highlights an alarm and presses an action button (action could be almost anything, from running a macro, setting a tag, or opening a dialog for more info). With the current PVP version, you could take advantage of the alarm trigger Acknowledgement feature. When an operator selects an alarm and acknowledges it that could trigger an OnTop display to open with more information about the alarm (use the "Ack" connection for the trigger in alarm setup, pair that with a Remote Macro and/or Remote Display Number to update an Information Display and/or open an OnTop display) . Clearly though, that would reduce the Ack feature as you could only view additional information while acking the alarm at the same time. That solution could work well if you have few alarm triggers, many alarm messages per trigger. It would be a bit tricky if you have many alarm triggers.
