Posted 29 Oct 2009 Looking at using an E-series HMI (probably E-1060) with a AnS based PLC Does anyone know if there is a way that the PLC can be programmed so that it can detect that comms with the HMI have failed? This is so that the PLC can default the equipment to a safe state in the event of a failure. Thanks.
Posted 29 Oct 2009 (edited) You should make the terminal update the PLC clock (you can set up the terminal to download the clock to your preferred dataregister), and then check that the value(s) are updated (e.g. the dataregister which shows seconds)..... If the dataregister fails to update within a given interval, the comm link is down. Go to "Setup->Date Time Format....." in E-Designer Edited 29 Oct 2009 by kaare_t

Posted 29 Oct 2009 Just remember that the clock occupies 6 or 7 dataregisters (if you use D0, it will also occupy D1-6)..... Year, Month, Date, Hour, Minute, Second....
