RSLogix 500 & RSLogix 5

6 posts in this topic

I am trying to find out what a "<" means in RSLogix 5 & 500 ladder logic software. We have many AB PLC 5 and SLC 500's in our plant and no one can tell me what it is. One vendor told me it meant the program has errors. A Rockwell engineer told me he didn't know what it meant. The "<" shows up in the rung space in the ladder logic program and some of them do not stay in one place, they may jump around as you go through the logic. It is just a curosity for me and I have had no problems from this but it bothers me that there is something there that no one can tell me what it is. Help would be appreciated. Thanks; Steve Simpson Process Controls Specialist PPG Industries Shelby, NC, USA

I think what you are seeing is just an indication that the rung continues. That doesn't mean an error. Check out my screen shot. Is that what you see?

The "<" is in the field along with the rung number. It is not on the rung itself. Thanks anyway. Steve S.

Can you post a screen shot of what you see? That might help me.

Hmmmm..... Not sure, but if it's in the Margin it may be an Edit Marker, although I havn't seen that symbol. Does it disappear when you verify the project?? Screen shot would be helpful

I've seen this.... just one '<' in the lower portion of the left hand rung margin. It didn't seem to mean anything so I ignored it. I figured it was a glitch of some sort. It had no effect on my actions.
