Differential line output to Open collector output?

2 posts in this topic

Just curious how to change my MR-E-AG's differential line output - LA/LAR,LB/LBR,LZ/LZR to only with A,B,Z output collector? Anybody can help?

why do you need open collector? you could just ignore R terminals (LAR, LBR, LZR) but keep in mind that line drivers are working in low voltage range (5V), while open collector is usually .... open ... to anything including considerably higher levels like 12, 30 or 50V. if the input you plan to drive with these outputs operates on such levels, you may damage drives outputs which means you would need proper interface circuit. ideally you would use so called "differential line receiver" chip such as AM26LS32 or one of the SN75series and open collector driver like popular ULN2003 etc. this chip should work if you want to omit line receiver. if you need to invert signals then you should use R outputs instead of straight ones. depending on output's capacity one may try optocouplers etc. but that's for you to find out.
