Hi all, I am trying to communicate KEPServerEX with FX3GE vis UDP protocol. I have tried but unable to get data on Kepserver. While configuring communication properties in PLC we have configured PLC IP, PLC Port, Destination IP, but unable to find correct Destination Port. Although we tried various port nos like 49320, 57412, 57512, 56233, 1025, 32402, 57212, 57012, 57612, 57812 but there was bad quality data using UDP For same PLC using TCP/IP we were able to read all tags properly. This change in communication protocol is required as there are some PLCs whose communication port drops after few days of connection establishment (no error logged; can be re established with just restart). Someone from Mitsubishi said to try communication via UDP as it continuously fetch data regardless of kind of response received. If anybody has tried or have any solution, please do share. Thanks

I have Delta 12SA2 PLC it has RS232 port and I have connected it to kepserver (by Modbus serial) and then factory IO Now my problem is that when I connect my PLC to kepserver the RS232 port becomes busy with the kepserver and not available in the ISPSoft and therefore I could not demonstrate factory io and my logic in run mode in the isp soft together like you do in your videos. My PLC don't have ethernet port but is there an option in kepserver or any way by which i can use the same serial port of the PLC in isp soft run mode and kepserver+factory io together so that I can simultaneously show the logic running in isp soft and application working in factory io to my students. I googled a lot and found some softwares which make virtual serial ports for a given serial port but they don't work and soon hang Please help me I am in a great need of it. Thanks in advance.

Hello there, I'm having a problem with connecting my Omron CPM1 PLC with KEPServerEX5. The problem is that I can't find any drivers that support a serial connection with the CPM1. The only driver that comes close to what I'm looking for is the Omron FINS Serial driver, but that one only supports the following devices: Even if i choose the CVM1 (that has simular TAG-addresses as the CPM1) I can't get any connection because it requires an ID with the following format (UU.AAA.NNN.) and I have no idea where to get this. I also tried to using the U-CON (user-configurable) driver, but I can't figure out how to get this working. I'm running a program in the CPM1 with a Input(00.01) , Output(10.01) and Timer(T000). I used the Transaction Editor to import these tags in KEPWare: I checked the serial port settings and they are correct. The only thing I'm not sure about is the device ID, but I tried 0 until 5 and I don't think it could be any higher than that. I'm hoping any of you guys is experienced with making a serial connection to KEPWare and is able to help me with this problem. Jimmy

Hi Guys, I got assigned here on a job and Im trying to figure out to restore communication between an Omron PLC and kepware - kepserver. We have a moxa nport device to convert the serial to TCP/IP ,.. I am able to ping the device itself so the network communication up to there is alright. I must say that before I was asked to verify - a couple of months ago the communication was working fine. Something has happened in between these time which of course nobody knows, and I have to fix it to get it operational again,... I uploaded here some images from the kepware and moxa nport settings if any could assist in what is going wrong - please let me know. 1 more thing. at 1 device I was able to get updates by putting the Scan Mode on a forced setting and requesting each 500ms to pull data. Only thing is that I only get an update every 2minutes while it should be at least every second,. the data value is changing every minute.

Wanting to learn computer programming/data collections for industrial applications
Matt47715 posted a topic in Computer Help and Networking
Hi, I work as an industrial programmer primarily dealing with Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and Omron PLC's as well as various peripheral devices. I would like to begin the process of learning computer programming as it pertains to the manufacturing industry. I'd like to learn how to write databases (SQL, etc) and VB apps and eventually I'd like to be able to write applications that can communicate with PLC's and other devices (although the last one would be a ways down the road). I have very little experience with computer programming so I don't really know where to start. What language should I learn first? What free software is available to learn with? What resources do you recommend I use? I've downloaded Visual Basic Express and found some introductory courses online that I've just started but if there is something else I should've started with I'm open to suggestions. Thanks
