  1. I am not familar with that display could you elaborate about the screen some more. I usually put a password in the screen that I want protected or the register that I want unchanged.

  2. A problem that I had once that should of been obvious, but I got caught up in the moment and overlooked it. My problem was that RS Linx was running in the background and using my com port. Good Luck

  3. I am trying to find the best computer for the money and still want good performance. The programs I run the most is GX Developer, RS Logix,ACAD 2002,GT Designer, PanelBuilder 32, and some times Solid Works. I am a big fan of Toshiba and have nothing but problems with ACER. Please give me some good recomendations, wether you have had problems or good luck.. Also I really would like to get one with a COM port as all my programming cables a DB 9 pin connections.

  4. Also another point I forgot is safety relay's are rated in categories and you must evaluate what type of category your machine is in. Wether the operator will get a little scratch in the worse case scenario, this would be a catergory 1 if the operator would receive a fatal injury this would be a catergory 4. Also look at every possible way that the operator could get injured, the reason I say this is just yesterday another eng. friend of mine came in to look at a project that I am working on, I had placed a estop to the left hand of the operator on each opening on the machine. He then asked me what would happen if the operator got their left hand caught on the fight side. They would not be able to reach the estop, after reviewing this with him I also added a pull rope to the machine.

  5. On some of our robot cells we write logic in the robot that if the door limit switch is not made within a certian time it will stop the robot and drop the estop. It more complicated than that but the jest of it is the logic that is wrote in the robot is safer than just the door switch alone. Its just a another redundant way to monitor safety and make me feel more confident about the machine's safety.

  6. The reason that I am not using a trans gun is because the robot only has a payload of 12.375 lb at 100% speed I am trying to make something out of spare parts that we have laying around in our facility. I am like you though I do have my doubts about the whole project. But again like you I wasn't asked for my opinion I was told to make it happen.

  7. Currently I am working on a project that involves moving a fixture with a OTC Daihen robot and move it to a resistance welder where it will then get welded and return the fixture. Has anyone ever attemted this before or done something similar to this. I am just trying to get some new ideas on how to lay the machine out.

  8. Well arguments is not what I'm here for it's to share my experience and gain knowledge from others. I never looked at it like you explained and that just shed a whole new light on it for me.

  9. Sorry ,that this has ruffled a few feathers but I beleive that if we buy te PLC and intergrate it ,then we shouldn't have to pay a ridicoulus amount for software to program them.
