Thank you I will get back to you tommorrow as I need to try in the shop

MR CARLTON thanks for the reply I have used four counters for each bit generated to get the total count but I am exploring other option. Regarding your reply I did not follow the current count do you refer to count the LSB. thanks mike31

HI Any advice how to count the total bits generated as 4 bit encoder revolves , Thanks
-
HI EVERYONE I need your help experts I use move instruction to move a word (b3:0) into different location of B file (b3:4) but along the way my source becomes ZERO so causes b3:4 current value to become zero. How can I do this that my destination retains its value in spite of source becomes ZERO (0)many thanks
-
HI thank you for clarification I did understood about MSB cycling so basically MSB will cycle off/on once in every revolution .
-
The only MSB bit generated at decimal position 15 so I do not understand how MSB will cycle twice per revolution Thanks
-
Thanks for the replies I have a questions about absolute encoderand that is for the purpose of counting pulses can I use the encoder bits which directly connected to plc input card or I have to use the outputs bits generated from gray to binary conversion or combination of two. Thanks and I will be back

Thanks BobLfoot for the great help I have another question in regards that absolute encoder works both ways so how do we know how far conveyor or encoder rotated in reverse direction thanks.

ALLEN BRADLEY SLC PROCESSOR 5/04 COMMUNICATION
MIKE31 replied to MIKE31's topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Thanks TWCONTROL for the reply but if the fault led wasn't solid then communication would have been okay. -
HI yes I have done it without battery. I will try it to jumper for more than two minutues and see the result. IF reset is not working then does it mean that the processor is gone Thanks
-
HI GUYS I have followed AB instruction to reset slc 5/04 processor to factory default but is not working and made sure the ground and vbb are jumpered but no result any advice. Thank you
-
HI Thanks for the reply I have followed exact instruction but not for two minutes and I have no memory module but I have fault red led and dh+ led red are both solid on, any suggestion? thanks

HELLO I was just reviewing one of our machine plc program and I noticed that there is a addition instruction which source and destination (integer file) is the same word. I searched to find out how the source is originated from but nothing to be found. Any suggestion thanks a lot

-
Thanks for the reply can you give an example
-
HI Is it possible to convert your code to PDF format, not everybody got the current revision . Thanks

HI I have seen a program (AB rslogix 500) with 15 subroutines but I have noticed that the same output being repeated on different subroutine. This production machine works fine and no problem with it at all. My question: Is this acceptable or not and why some programmer repeat the same output within the plc program, any reason behind it MIKE31
