  1. I didn't forget about this but I was working on other projects also. I have attached a trend of what I came up with. I tried to roll my own but I didn't like the outcome. It was better then what they had but I still didn't care for it so I switched to a PID control. Also, this was just a short period of time..I will want to watch it during a longer production run. Thanks, Bob O Feeder_Trend82310B.pdf

  2. Sorry..I didn't forget about this. I thought I was told I was going to be controlling the speed of a belt but it turns out to be a rotary vane feeder that feed the rock mill directly. The feeder is fed by a constant supply of product from a storage tank. After seeing the setup, it doesn't appear that it will be to bad. Thank you for the replies and suggestions on control. Paul, Thanks for being on this forum. I enjoy reading your posts. Thanks, Bob

  3. I have a small install to start in a couple of weeks where the customer is replacing a starter that has on/off control of the feed belt that feeds a rock mill. They are installing a PF70 EC in place to control the feed belt and want to maintain a certain amperage on the rock mill by feeding more or less product. I don't know if there is consistent product feeding the feed belt. I will assume there isn't. I also don't know if the rock is consistent in size. I will assume for the most part the rock is consistent in size. So, from the little information I have given, would you think PID control or roll your own type control. I am using RSLogix5000 and controlling the new drive over devicenet. Thanks

  4. I have been asked to go online and trouble shoot a machine that has a Mitsubishi Melsec FX ON- 40MR-ES. I mainly work with AB so this one is new to me. I searched for information but came up short. Any pointers on needed software, cables and manuals is appreciated. Thanks, Bob O

  5. I need to go to a customer on Monday to look at the Temperature control PID. I have attached a stripped down copy of what I have to work with. A couple of things that stand out to me. 1. They have it setup for STI mode but they don't have the STI setup in the Status file. 2. They have the PID conditioned 3. They are not placing the PID in Auto or Manual I should be able to clean this up but I do have a question about the analog output configuration. It is set to "Scaled to PID" [0-16383] and 4-20 mA so do I need to rescale this to [6242 – 31208] or is this correct? PID.RSS

  6. The panel is feed with 480 3 Phase and space is limited that is why I was asking about a 480 heater. I was a bit surprised that they didn't have that option but it is probably just me. I will just have to move the main power distribution block and install a transformer for the heater. Thanks, Bob

  7. if you think you got the skills, desgin a circuit and a PLC program ASAP and e-mail or post it. Thanks I have my son working on this as you have requested but we will need to be compensated for the new box of crayolas and the new pad of paper that he needed to accomplish the task. Also, I hope the SLC500 format that you mentioned is the same SLC500 that we use. We use the Smart Little Child rev 5.0.0 [sLC500]. Code will be posted once payment has been received. It has been a pleasure doing business with you and I hope to continue this relationship in the future.
