  1. Safety Contactor for Motors required?

    I also use the safe-off option on AB drives a lot but on a side note, the safe-off pins are different on the 700S drives compared to the 70 and 40P. Example 70/40P 1-Monitor-NC 2-Common-NC 3-+24VDC 4-24VCommmon 700S 1-+24VDC 2-24VCommmon 3-Monitor-NC 4-Common-NC
  2. Thermal Management

Hoffman has a download with thermal management software that may help you size your cooling needs. http://www.hoffmanonline.com/product_catal...5&CatId=375 Hope this helps
  3. Safety Contactor for Motors required?

All of the safety circuits that we do have two safety contactors in series with the power feeding the motors and these contactors are controlled by the safety relays. Hope this helps
  4. What Mickey said. So was this a new unit out of the box from AB or just new to you? I am going to assume new to you because you had to press the comms button to get comms to work or do they come this way sometimes brand new?
  5. The 24VDC has nothing to do with comms so you are correct. Is this a new out of the box ML1200 or a new used one? In RSLinx did you select the AB DF1 driver and then select SLC Micro PanelView as the device? Also, what cable are you using for comms between the PC and ML1200? Here is a picture AB_DF1.pdf
  6. You could search the fault troubleshooting in the manual but I think the fault light out of the box will blink when no program is installed. Now for setting up comms. Do you have a real serial port on you computer or are you using a USB to serial converter? Hope this helps.
  7. RSview connecting to ML1400

Thanks for letting us know that you got it going.
  8. RSview connecting to ML1400

I am going to assume RSView32. RSLinx Lite will not work with RSView32 but you should be fine if you can use RS Linx Classic Pro. Hope this Helps
  9. Slc500 Fault

I knew I would learn something. Thank you.
  10. Slc500 Fault

I am prob going to learn something on this but can't they plug the card in and cycle the power?
  11. Type J TC Voltage Rating

Hey Ken, Ex-Navy here I was an ASE stationed in Jax FL and at Cecil Field FL.
  12. I have been searching for the voltage rating of type J TC extension wire [White/Red] this morning without any luck. The customer wants us to megger these and they don’t know what the rating is for their existing TC wire. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Bob O.
  13. Slc500 Fault

Are you removing the card to replace it or are you removing it because you don't need it?
  14. Type J TC Voltage Rating

Thanks to all that have replied. I am off to the customers this week and I'll let you know what they say. A week with no cell coverage or internet = middle of BFE.
  15. Type J TC Voltage Rating

It is in its own pipe and there spec is to megger every conductor into the panels. I am going to assume they are wanting to check if any of the conductors were damaged during install. Thanks Again
  16. Type J TC Voltage Rating

Rodney thanks for the reply. I searched omega before posting but didn't find the info I was looking for. Example THHN is rated at 600V so we test at 1000VDC and they have other cable that is rated at 300V and we test that at 500VDC but the TC cable isn't marked and they don't know what it should be tested at. Thanks Again,
  17. RS-VIEW & RSL500

I would start by researching the channel configuration of the AI that you intend to use and the data sheet on your flow transmitter and also read the help file in RSLogix500 on the SCP instruction. Hope this help.
  18. RS-VIEW & RSL500

how to rotate an object in RS view? I am assuming RSView32 but it should be similar in FactoryTalk also. Select object in graphics display > Click on Objects up on the tool bar > Select Rotate. See Attached Picture. Flow indication and totalizer simple calculations in 500? Maybe, can you tell us more about your application? Hope this helps. Rotate.pdf
  19. Not a FT expert but post the .apa file since that is the one you really want in the first place. Maybe someone with FT will look at the .apa file and help you.
  20. Wiring Schematics

So wiring schematics are done before or after the panel is done or it doesnt matter. 1. Create Schematics 2. Build panel 3. Update prints for redlines. [ Redlines are errors or modification during the build ] 4. Ship panel with correct prints. 5. Send bill. Hope this helps
  21. Error = SP*1.1 or SP*.9. You could place these two values in a LIM instruction or put the SP*1.1 in a GRT and the SP*.9 in a LES.
  22. Post your program and IF I have time I can dump into a ML and see what happens. Edit ....Must post quicker.....
  23. Ron B are you part of the site that is linked above because if you're not they are using a lot of your hard work.
  24. I have an electrical installation question. Is it required to separate the ControlNet for communication, 24VDC for I/O and the 120VAC I/O into separate pipes when running from panel to panel? Thanks
  25. Thanks. We do separate the 24 and 120 so this was probably more of a question just because it has always been done that way doesn't mean it should be done that way.
