I would agree about doing the Siemens PLC course. It should give you a good understanding of the concepts and give you some hands on experiance. When you come to market yourself on graduation the more skills you have the better.

I wonder if PLC is working in a FTP client for Vision. This way you could send datas from SD to a FTP Server.Other solution would be if PLC will develope a Server of remote datas, maybe only adding datas to My SQL database. This kind of applications is very usual last time.

I am new to the world of PLC's. This blog points out how to successful start and operate a PLC at your school. I liked how it explained at the beginning teachers will not feel completely comfortable sharing their ideas with the group.
