  1. I have several EWEB modules running in two of our plants which are used to display machine information to a number of people throughout the plant. The modules were programmed using Rockwell's EWEB Toolkit. Programming the pages was very easy using the toolkit. The editor was somewhat crude but it got the job done. The difficult issue was loading the correct version of Java as well as Internet Explorer. The modules have been running and continue to run without a problem but we recently tried to make some edits to the existing pages and ran into a problem with editing. We have Rockwell's toolkit set up on two of our laptops running Windows XP. Recently both the laptops we are using for development would no longer function properly when using the toolkit. I reinstalled the archived version of Sun Java virtual Machine Ver 1.4.2_06 we had stored on our server to each laptop development system and are running IE Ver 8 which we were running when the toolkit functioned properly. Using the editor can restore pages from the hard drive, save pages to the hard drive and load pages from the EWEB module but I am getting an error when I try to save to the EWEB Module. I am getting a Pop-Up window stating 'Error Downloading to EWEB. Caught Exception:Java.Lang.NullPointerException." I tried loading different pages from the module and tried saving the same page back to the module which is when I get the error. I can pull a page up from the hard drive or the module and make edits. I just can't load it back into the module. I have been working with Rockwell tech Connect on the problem and they finally told me the problem is within their Toolkit and the Toolcat is loaded with bugs..They supply the toolkit for free and have no plans on fixing it. They actually no longer have it available on their web site. I am not a JAVA programmer and found the toolkit a necessity for us to program the module. Do any of you know of a fix for this present error or perhaps someone has a different, user friendly, toolkit out there somewhere? I am still trying to get somewhere with Rockwell but they haven't been much help. I should mention that the operating system we were using is XP but we are migrating to Win 7 and will need something which functions on a Win 7 platform. Thanks
