ControlLogix Redundancy Ethernet/IP IO Configuration
andreik posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hi, Good day to all, I got a situation regarding the redundancy configuration. Please refer to the image attached (Page 26, Enhanced Redundancy User Manual). Notice the 1756 ControlLogix I/O inside the green box! The chassis hasn't got a CPU but only has an Ethernet IP module for the entire chassis. Does anyone know how to add and configure this chassis to the I/O configuration tree of RSLogix5K (Logix Designer 5k)? On my configuration, I've also inserted 2 MVI56E-MNETC Modbus TCP/IP Module in addition to the standard I/O Modules. Is my configuration possible? I appreciate any help I could get, thank you very much! Sincerely, Andrei O. Karunungan -
ControlLogix Redundancy with Ethernet/IP

I'm opted to use Radio Telemetry and I think what suitable to my application is the DNP3. I've searched the Siemens website and found various wireless solutions. Most of them are linked to the Internet via GSM but it is not good use GSM here in Botswana mainly because we have poor Mobile services and connectivity in here.

Communications... I'm not really sure because the one who briefed me actually knows nothing. He wants to assume that his little information should be enough. Anyway, perhaps we can use GPRS or Internet or both. Let's assume that we have a line of sight for all stations to the main station. I just want to have a general idea for now. Could you share with me a simple, ideal configuration? Let's say 2 stations with 5 I/O's each to be connected to a Main Station w/ Scada. Frequency uses for Scada? Nothing at all. Everything will start from scratch. I'm thinking about either S7-1200 or S7-300 at the Main station. Maybe I'll just connect the Scada to that PLC. thank you so much. Andrei K.

Good day, I've been a PLC Programmer for almost 7 Years now but neved did I encounter a Telemetry System before. What's more, I've never even worked with a Siemens PLC before. I am about to estimate a "16 Water Borehole" project that are all within a 20km radius. The Main Station w/c is within the area is where the Main Controller & SCADA is going to be. The system control is actually simple; each of the 16 Water Boreholes are only designated with 32 Digital I/O's each. The pumps are basically ON/OFF with trip signal and the Water tank level monitoring is just determined by the usual Float Switch (low, mid, high levels). For an overview, please see the attached document. The problem is, I don't know where to start. I've tried browsing the Siemens website but I find it vague, tortuous and not helpful at all. If someone could give me an overview how Telemetry system works, the hardwares and softwares required etc. I will very much appreciate it. Thank you so much, Andrei K. Borehole_Tele_Proj.ppt

Stepper Motor Pulse Signal Problem
andreik replied to andreik's topic in General Topics - The Lounge
Ok, it's 0VDC or "-" signal of the PSU. So, can I use the 0VDC from 24VDC Power Supply and use it as a Pulse Output Signal for 5VDC CW/CCW? Do I need to "short" the "-" of 24VDC and 5VDC PSU's? Thanks a lot, Andrei K. -
Good day, I have a little problem with my Stepper Motor and PLC. From the attached image, The Pulse signal for Stepper Motor is 5VDC. However, My "COMMON" in PLC Output is -24VDC which covers Pulse and ordinary Output signals. According to the attached excerpt from Keyence Manual, 24VDC Power Supply can be used but a current limiting Resistor should be implemented. I'd like to know if it is possible to give +5VDC to CW+/CCW+ and -24VDC to CW-/CCW- as I indicated on my diagram. Thank you very much, Andrei K. Stepper Wiring.pdf

I see. Anyway, somehow I was able to find a GX Developer V6 in one of my old files and then was able to upload the FX1NC Program. There are S/W's that are fully functional even for a trial version. Omron's CX-One, Beckhoff's TwinCAT and NI's Labview to name a few. Thanks, Andrei K.

Good day, I have downloaded a GX Developer Trial Version. I have FX1NC PLC and connected successfully with it in Monitor Mode. However, I realized that "Read from PLC" and "Write to PLC" options in GX Developer are disabled. Are Mitsubishi Trial Versions not fit for Upload/Download Programs from their devices (PLC/HMI)? Thank you very much. Sincerely, Andrei K.

Good day, I'm very curious about the Mitsubishi programming Cable "QC30R2". I've got a feeling that it's just a "direct-wiring" Cable. What I'm trying to convey is that I think it has no special circuitry so perhaps I could just make my own instead of purchasing a unit. I've been searching through Google but I couldn't find anything. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Andrei K.

Thank you all for the response. I was able to download the document.

Right, it came from a Machine from Japan and I think it's already been discontinued. Thank you very much for the info.
