Hi, when you upload the code from the PLC, what options do you have twhen you go online and monitor whats happening within the code on the PLC. Do you get the monitoring options you get when download the code to the PLC?? Stuart

Thanks for that, much appreciated. I do this i should ask a more general question in general forum about uploading e.g. what you can do, what you can't etc.

Hi, i use Siemens (i know you can upload the code from the plc with no comments etc) Beckhoff (no option to upload) and Mitsubishi. I am correct in saying with some PLC's you can upload the code, then you can download that code to go online and monitor whats happening. or can you upload the code, saying if you have no source code and go online at the same time. Just trying to get my terminology correct. Stu

Hi, can anyone give me any advice on creating a project using twincat. What i need to know is the best practice/procedure in creating a project. With Siemens S7 you create a project, then can setup the hardware first or second then start programming. Create your main then function blocks, functions etc. Any advice greatly appreciated. Stu

Hi, im wanting to become a professional PLC engineer. Specifically using Siemens S7, i have a good background in control and instrumentation. I have used Labview (10 years) for writing HMI's and communcating with PLC's e.g. OPC. I dont have any formal training in Siemens S7 but have all the literature and the software as my current job uses S7-300 PLC's. What do i need to know before i consider myself a Siemens S7 PLC engineer?? Stu

Had another look at the one at work, i believe it does up date Access database through Visual basic. If you dont mind me asking what opc are you using?? dcom, tcp/ip??

Hi, this maybe of use. The way it is done at our company the camera sends out a data string results after each inspection. This tells us that the inspection took place, i know one machine had an OPC server activated but they decided against this due to timing issues in when the opc server updated. With data string we definately new that a test had taken place.
