  1. Hi, Background: I have a system that was built before my time. The master PLC is a Momentum M1 171CCC98020. It uses the RJ45 port to connect to a remote HMI computer, going through Cat5 to a media converter, to a long fibre run, to a second media converter, to Cat5 again, and finally to the computer. I need to get rid of the HMI computer and tie the system into SCADA but the SCADA doesn't support MODBUS TCP (at least not without a costly licence). I'm looking for a MODBUS TCP to DNP 3.0 protocol converter that I can stick into between the PLC and the first media converter (need to go over that fibre). It needs an RJ45 port in and an RJ45 port out. I have found this: http://www.prosoft-technology.com/content/view/full/7382 which seems to be the closest contender but not exactly what I want. Anyone a device like I'm looking for (or another way to get DNP 3.0 out of that M1)? Thanks edit: wrong link
  2. Series 90-30 CMM321 modules

Thanks for the links. I'm gradually figuring out the GE Fanuc support & documentation webpages. It was a little obtuse at first. I'm also having more luck with their phone-in support now.
  3. Thanks for the advice. I checked the specs, the highlighted one being what I have: So I have an available RJ45 jack for the ethernet connection. But is this ethernet jack affected by the fact that this particular processor is sitting in the 172 PNN 210 22 MODBUS PLUS option adapter? Can I still send out MODBUS with the RJ45 with the processor in this adapter?
  4. Series 90-30 CMM321 modules

Thanks for the quick response. I figured the NIU wasn't what I was looking for... but I didn't understand its function as a remote I/O. I was looking at one of the manuals and found the CPU364 with an ethernet port. I can't find it on the GE website though. I'll assume that one is no longer being produced and follow-up on the 372 instead. Thanks. Jon
  5. Series 90-30 CMM321 modules

Hi, I'm upgrading the HMI hardware/software for a system using a GE Series 90-30 PLC. Right now, the connection made from a CMM321 module to a AAUI transceiver to a coax cable to the HMI computer. Upgrading the computer hardware means getting rid of the coax cable. Now for the 2-in-1 question: 1. Are there any manufacturers for an AAUI with an RJ45 port? I've tried contacting almost ten companies and they are either gone out of business or no longer make such products. 2. What's the next easiest way to connect the 90-30 to the upgraded computer? Would a NIU004 Ethernet with an high capacity power supply work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Hi, First time posting. I hope in time I can contribute something back to the forum but as of now my PLC knowledge is quite limited. I'm upgrading a system that was installed in 2002. Currently its connected to an HMI computer but I need to connect it to the plant's SCADA system (OSI's Monarch). The system itself has 5 slaves (M1 171CCS70000) and a master (171CCC98020). These six PLCs were installed with the Momentum option adapters (172PNN21022) and use MODBUS PLUS to communicate. The problem with this is that Monarch, AFAIK, can't communicate with MODBUS PLUS, just vanilla MODBUS. There's an RJ45 ethernet jack on the master that is connected to the HMI computer. My question is: Can I use this to talk MODBUS TCP to the SCADA? The manuals list this as a MODBUS port but I don't know what effect the option adapter could have on its communication. Thanks for the help. Ask if anything needs to be clarified. Jon
