Hi everyone. I'm a new member, and I've been reading Hugh Jack's PLC book to familiarize myself with PLCs. It's a really practical guide to much more than just PLCs! Now I would like to setup a system at home to practice with. The relatively inexpensive trainer systems that I see on the market have all digital I/O, but I would like to have an analog input channel or two. I'm considering purchasing a used 1761-L20BWA-5A Micrologix 1000. The PLC comes with a 1761-CBL-PMO2 cable, and I understand I can program it using the free RSLogix Micro Starter Lite software. There are two questions that I would like to ask the group: 1) Is there anything else I would need to be able to start using this PLC? I want to avoid getting surprised by any expensive items that I'm missing. 2) Is there anything I need to check to be sure the free RSLogix Micro Starter Lite software will work with this PLC (i.e. serial number, firmware version)? Thanks for the info. John
