  1. Problem with PIC module / RSLinx Setup

    The solution to this problem is simple. I found on a rockwell forum website, that if you rename the service pack 3 version of SERENUM.SYS located in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder to something else for backup purposes. Copy the older service pack 2 SERENUM.SYS file from c:\i386\SP2.cabs folder (has a 2004 file date) to the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder and re-boot. The old driver allows the PIC driver to run without error. I tested it on 2 Dell Larirude D610 computers with real serial ports and it works. The PIC still will not run on a USB to serial Converter, howerver I am looking into that and plan on testing with SP3 in the future. The cost savings on the 1747-PIC vs. the 1747-UIC (usb pic version) is night and day.
