  1. A couple of options: Easiest: Ban all unchecked external sources - use 'sheepdip' machines with up-to-date software to virus check media / CDROMS before they get connected to the closed network. Most difficult: The 'AV' solution: If it's a closed network, how do you update it? (AV definitions / engine) You'll need to keep the machine continually patched as well - if you actually rely on this machine, don't forget to have a duplicate machine to test every single patch and AV update first, or a way to roll it back to a backup - which will then have to be updated with all patches added since the last backup. Be careful about adding more risk. Matt.
  2. So, no time limits / max point count? Sounds like good news, the free software has got more useful, hopefully the sticky for the 'how to find the free 10-point version' will be updated (since this appears to be a. newer and b. supports more controllers). Would be nice if there was some info on Rockwell's website somewhere, the 'lite' version doesn't appear in the product profile. Thanks for checking.
  3. Hi, I found in the AB MicroLogix downloads section, the following entries: Software Free Starter Programming Software for MicroLogix 1000 and 1100 RSLogix Micro Starter Lite (v8.10) without RSLinx — for offline programming (English) [30MB EXE] RSLogix Micro Starter Lite (v8.10) bundled with RSLinx Classic Lite (v2.54) — for offline/online programming (English) (Chinese versions also available) It appeared some weeks ago, waiting to see if any info appeared hasn't worked, so: Does anyone know what the restrictions are? I was previously using the 10-point free version so I don't have any other MicroLogix devices to point it at. Before I think about buying any more hardware, I'd like to know what the restrictions/limitations are. (Time limit, devices supported, I/O points, etc.) Installing it doesn't give any clues, no prompts for activation/keys and the help mentions that without activation some products work in a 'lite' mode. Google searches don't pick anything up either. There must be a catch somewhere...... Thanks, MattF
