  1. I wonder how many instructions can be saved into the 4KB user program memory of MicroLogix 1100? I think it will depend on the type of instructions used but just ballpark figure is fine. Does anyone know if the RS Logix Micro Starter Lite (free version) has limits on program size or instruction usage? I know it can only be used with 1000/1100 but could not find info on any other limitations.
  2. I am adding another servo motor to existing system. There is one A1SD75M1 single axis motion controller which was installed already in position 0. I would like to add another two axis motion controller A1SD75M2 in position 5 but am not sure if this would work or if there is limit on the number of motion controllers which can be used on the same rack?
  3. I got it but I had to install older version of Siemens GSD file, ver 1.2 As soon as I did it the error cleared.
  4. I am trying to get communication going between Mitsubishi Profibus Master QJ71PB92V and Siemens 6ES7158-0AD01-0XA0. When I didi investigate my diagnostics messages it showed that "Parameter transmitted by the master is incorrect". The RSP ERR diode on the master is also red. I just don't know what to look for since I have never worked with these devices before. Would it be difference in Parameter settings between the ones set in Mitsubishi and the ones in Siemens coupler? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, I am attaching the screen shot showing the errror. Thanks. dpslavestatus.bmp
  5. More than one motion controller on the same rack?

Thanks Crossbow, I am using A2SHcpu for this system. I have issue with addressing of this module. I think it should be addressed as H5 but whenever I try TO command with H5 I get error 46 in the plc cpu which the manual shows as "Access has been made to a location where no special function module is installed". Could you see if my addressing should be different? I am attaching picture of my system with arrow pointing to the new module I am working with. The module memory starts at 0xC0 and I can read the module memory locations without any problem in GX developer but when I try to write to it (like to reset error) there is a problem. I am also not able to jog that servo, when I turn on the jog signal, YD6 and YD7 in my case I get Error 108 "Start not possible". Don't know if these two are related? YDD (CPU Ready) and YD5 (Servo ON) signals are turned on. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  6. I have never done Profibus since we mostly use CC-Link here so the GSD files are new to me. So I need to load Mitsubishi QJ71pb92V GSD file loaded into mitsubishi module and Siemens gsd loaded into siemens module? Or is it the same GSD file loaded into both modules? Just want to make sure. Thanks.
  7. Keyence VT3-V8 HMI Alarm issue

I am trying to add new alarm to the Keyence VT3-V8 HMI. I can see where all the Alarm Messages are under System Settings/Alarm/Message but for some reason in the Device No. column it says NONE for all these Alarms. I thought that I should see device numbers in there and though I looked through Keyence manuals I can't find information about it. How do I figure out which bit activates which message and add new Alarm Message in? I am using Keyence VT Studio ver. 2E and KV-3000 PLC. I am attaching screen capture for clarification. Thanks. 8. Servo motor with FX3U

Thanks guys for all the great info, I will look into that.
  9. Mitsubishi Safety PLC

I am looking into using Mitsubishi Safety PLCs for some of our equipment, can anyone point me to application notes or other information? I would like to learn how to use them and what is allowed in terms of protecting some zones of machinery while other sections can still operate.
  10. I have controller with no markings on it so I dont know what make and model it is but it uses eeprom card to store ladder logic. The card has 38 contacts in single row and the model number is BR 32A1-A made by Fujisoku. Have contacted the manufacturer but these cards have been discontinued and they don't know where can I get the reader for it. Does anyone know where I can get reader for these cards? Or what is the format of this card called so it easier to find reader? Thanks.
  11. I am using F160 controller with F150-m05L monitor connected to it. The sync LED on the monitor is on and I can't find any info on what does it mean, shuold it be on or is there a problem I am trying to do continuous measurement with this controller and so far no luck so wonder if this LED indicates something wrong?
  12. Servo motor with FX3U

So I guess no positioning of any type would be possible, just on/of and direction of movement? I guess position could be calculated based on pulses send but is there any way to read encoder?
  13. I am setting up the Omron FZ3-300 single camera vision system and would like to use position compensation because there is slight variance in part location. Since I want to locate one side of the inspection region on edge I have set up 'Edge Position' as first processing unit and it finds the edge every time. How do I tell it to align left side of the inspection region on that edge? I don't see any setting in position compensation to do that. Any ideas? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  14. Omron FZ3 Vision Sensor

I am looking for pinout of the parallel port of the FZ3 vision system from Omron, Can anyone help?
  15. Omron FZ3 Vision Sensor

    Thanks a lot
  16. CCS vision lighting power supply

I wonder if anyone knows who makes the 'Light connector' on ccs power supplies? I need to make extension but there are no markings on this connector. It is 3 pin flat type connector with only 2 pins used. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
  17. I am trying to use F160 to make sure hole is present on cylinder being rotated. I know when the rotation starts and stops so that would be trigger for the step signal but which measuring mode should be used for this application since the whole part is not visible right away? The hole can be invisible to the camera at the beginning of the measuremen and appear after a second or so. Can anyone tell me which setting should be used in this situation? Thanks.
  18. Servo tuning info needed.

I am running system where one of the servo motors is making noise and I am suspecting that the servo might need to be tuned. I have never done it before so I would appreciate getting info on the actual tuning or info about resources on the web. I am using A1SD75M position controller and it is set to auto tuning currently but I am not sure that it actually works. Thanks.
  19. I know there is bit saying that OPR has been performed but is there signal I could use to check if the motor is homed at the time when I check it and which would go off when the motor moved from home position?
  20. Does anyone have shematic for the Mitsubishi FA-CNV2405CBL cable? It is converter cable from RS-422 to RS-232 used for Mitsubishi GOT1155 Handy pendants. I need mostly the pinout of the 25 pin connector to assemble my own relay cable between external cable and converter cable. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  21. I need to store data during power down so I need some non-volatile or battery backed registers, which one would be on the A1S or A2S series? Do I need mov command as with any other data location? Can I increment number directly in such register?
  22. Non-volatile registers on A1S/A2S series?

Thanks for quick reply, will try it today.
  23. I need to know how to determing fuse size for Power Supply. Lets say the power supply specs show max input current at 1A @ 200VAC If I conntect to 200VAC 2 phase should I install 2 x .5A fuses so each phase get .5A fuse which will make it 1A total or should 2 x 1A fuses be installed?
  24. Safety relay question

I have production line with 4 different machines on it. They all have separate controllers and control panels. If E-Stop is pressed on any machne in the line I would like to send signal to every other machine and stop them as well by interrupting their E-Stop circuitry. I thought that I can use one safety relay contact to drive relay and use that relay contacts to send signal to the other machines in that line to stop them. Otherwise I need 3 contacts on the safety relay + possibly 3 others for disconnecting power to devices. Do I really have to go that big on this safety relay?
  25. Power supply protection

What about fuse size? If it is 1A device should each fuse be slightly larger than maximum current usage so lets say 2 fuses 1.25A or 1.5A each? How would fuses in 3 phase system be calculated?
