  1. hello all i have a query regarding the flexlogix family of processor i want to know what the term CPU loading for a flexlogix processor means also can anybody tell me the exact I/O handling capacity of the flexlogix processor is this CPU loading related to the PLC scantime and the processor memory also i would like to know that if there is any exact formula to calculate the CPU loading of a flexlogix processor waitin for reply ASAP regards Nilesh Surya
  2. hi thr all ppl good morning i have come across a very stupid problem, hope i will get the answer for it in this forum my RSview32 has gone corrupted. when i open a project ,it is loaded 50% and at the time of database synchronization it gives me Realtime data manger error and then aborts project loading i have tried uninstalling RSVIEW and then reinstalling again but it was waste i have also tried installing to a higher version but tht also didnt work i have one option to format the hard disk and reload everything again from scratch, but i dont want to do that. is anybody there who has come across similar problem and have got a solution? plz tell me i will be very thankful i use RSVIEW32 version 6.5 and also tried upgrading it to RSVIEW32 7.10 (cpr 6) but this didnt work plz help me out thanx in advance Regards NileshSURYAb
  3. hi dave if ur running pbase from dos on a windows 98 machine, make sure that u have killed the RSLINX service from startup. then boot to DOS and try to connect to DB module using PBASE try this i think u will get success REGARDS Nilesh Surya
  4. hi there dave again unfortunately u cannot use new OS such as win2000 or win98 to run PBASE - i have tried tht a lot but it was waste instead u can use DOS or WIN95 win95 can be ur best choice. so hunt for a machine which has win95 loaded into it , load PBASE into it and GO-->connect to ur DB module Regards Nilesh Surya Automation Engineer
  5. hello Dave well u will be using a 9-pin (computer side) to 25-pin (DB module side) cable the pinouts will be tht of a straight cable ie:- 9-pin side<--------------------------->25-pin side 2<--------------------------------->2 (TX) 3<--------------------------------->3 (RX) 5<--------------------------------->7 (signal ground) this configuration will work fine. u can use PBASE to connect to ur DB module or Normal windows Hyperterminal can also be connected to DB module Regards Nilesh Surya Automation Engineer
  6. hi thr all plc ppl i have a prooblem, lookin for a solution this morning i started work on a flexlogix - L34/B (512 kb memory) processor i was about to load firmware on it using controlflash with RS-232 serial connection while in the process my com port malfunctioned and the process remained unfinished now when i power up my processor the OK LED remains steady RED, which tells me tht the controller is faulted and the action described in the manual is clear memory or replace the controller when i try to go online from RSLINX from another PC it is also unsuccessful. tell me whether if the processor is faulted still can we go online from RSLinx or not(im running rslinx 2.42 and 2.43) it is also told to clear the memory of the processor(can we do tht externally using some jumper settings on a flexlogix processor) i wud also like to tell tht i have not yet connected the battery to the flexlogix plz help me out with a solution AS soon as possible im waiting for reply from all u plc experts thanks in advance Regards Nilesh Surya
  7. hi thr u all plc experts recently i came across with 2-3 SLC systems in which one typical problem was there when the SLC is cycle powered it directly goes into fault mode,it should go into run mode but it doesnt. it is then bought into run mode by switching the key what must be the probable cause for this and what is the suggested remedy, can anybody tell plz can the status bit fault override at powerup be set to solve this problem i am also desperatley looking for the probable cause of this problem waiting for reply ASAP regards NileshSURYA
  8. hi thr all PLC experts and ppl currently im doing a project which has following config 1)flexlogix processor with local and local2 racks one 1788-dnbo card with 1794-adn adapter the adn adapter has about 6 modules. my question is that what will be the i/o address of the modules attached to the 1794-adn devicenet adapter(im lookin for the i/o addressing format) will add some more details soon rt now in a hurry waiting 4a reply from all u experts thnx in advance regards NILESHSURYA
  9. I have rslogix5000 software for flexlogix 1794-L34A controller with 1788 enbt card. I want to creat data base in rsview32 for flex logix controller but i could not configure node and channel in rslinx software I am using rslogix5000 v13 for 90 days demo software rslinx software ver 2.20.01 please guide me how to develop application in FBD language and how create tag database. if possible send me sample program
  10. hi thr u all plc experts recently i came across a machine which is used to make paper cups for beverages now listen carefully the machine is controlled by a slc-5/03 processor interfaced with a PV600 as an MMI, the problem is that one output on a PLC o/p card (which is an OA16 110V ac o/p card) flickers(that is the o/p chatters and does not remain steady, the indicator LED on the module also flickers same) i tried following steps to eliminate the problem:- 1)changed the o/p card (thinkin the module has some problem), but it didnt work 2)changed the module slot (thinkin thr must be some problem in the backplane), but it didnt work there is another machine which is an exact clone of this machine(ie: the PLC program is exactly same in both the machines), that machine is working perfectly fine. so i also replaced the PLC program in the machine with the program which was in perfectly working fine machine (but this also didnt work) this flickering problem comes only with that one specific o/p this output is energized with a rotary encoder(ie when the degree is between 0-40 degrees) so i replaced the encoder, but this is also not working will any PLC expert plz tell me whr the exact problem must be. i have really tried all these things but the problem is still not solved waiting for reply from all u guys eagerly reply ASAP regards NileshSURYA
  11. hi thr if i m not wrong does the AB PLC-5 ethernet series of controllers has an embedded web server in it i dont know about PLC - 5/20 or 5/40 but he PLC 5/80 has an embedded web server into it,in which u can directly feed HTML files into ASCII files so that the information can be accesed over an ethernet or internet i dont know much bout the stuff, but u can hunt for more on this topic it would be of gr8 help if u tell me wht u find regarding this topic regards NileshSURYA
  12. hello there ppl, i have a plc-5/40 with an AB 1771-DB series B Basic module. i am using the age old PBASE software to connect to the basic module(i have it loaded on a compaq contura laptop running windows95). My problem is that i'm not being able to connect to the basic module. when i try to connect it from the PBASE, PBASE throws the error " Basic Module Not Responding" . my settings are as follows : 1) PRT1 as program port, PRT2 as ASCII Port, i am using a cross cable from 9-pin connector(from PC side) to 25-pin connector (1771-db side)-its config is pin 2 to pin 3, pin 3 to pin 2 , pin 5 to pin 7. the terminal mode is set to RS232 basic terminal in PBASE(with com1,1200baud and other relevant settings). all the jumper settings are made accordingly. 2) i have even tried to use DH485 as program port by making the jumper settings and using a PIC card(rs232 to DH485 converter) and then setting the terminal mode as DH485 in PBASE ( port com1,1200 baud and other relevant settings). the error thrown sometimes is "invalid network traffic detected" when i operate in DH485 program mode i have placed the basic module in the slot next to plc 5/40 cpu ( its a 16 slot chassis) and then configured the basic module in RSLOGIX5 in the following config ( rack - 0,group - 0,module - 0, 1-slot addressing) with the autopick done for the basic module. thinking that PBASE must have gone corrupted,i even tried windows95 hyperterminal utility to connect to the basic module through the cross cable on COM PORt 1 to program port PRT1 on basic module. But the error msg - "Unable to open com port" is thrown. the same com port communicates with PLC-5/40 on channel 0 perfectly fine(so i think there is no problem with the COM Port) WHILE ALL THESE EFFORTS ARE GOING ON, THE ACTIVE LED ON THE BASIC MODULE IS BLINKING(WHICH MEANS THAT THE BASIC MODULE IS IN COMMAND MODE) AND THE RED FAULT LED REMAINS OFF(WHICH MEANS THAT THERE IS NO FAULT) (AND LET ME TELL U ONE THING THAT THE BASIC MODULE IS JUST OUT OF THE BOX,IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY BASIC CODE LOADED ON IT RIGHT NOW) are these settings fine which are made by me or are there another settings which i have to make in order to make the BASIC module to Work prefectly? I am using the BASIC module to Print the alarms to a printer when alarm condition occurs in a process. i have to add more alarms to the module (by modifying the BASIC code in another DB/B Module and making relevant additions in the Ladder program in the PLC and then load all the modified code in this new basic module, which is not responding rightnow), but the basic module is not even responding, so i have stuck up at this stage. Does anyone have any idea, what can be the problem i would be very gr8ful n thankful if anyone provides me a way out of this problem, and its very urgent. Thanks IN advance, plz help me Regards NileshSURYA
  13. plc-5 with 1771-db basic module

thnx ken both problems were present in my system so i did two things 1)first i killed RSLinx service in windows95 to let pbase take charge of the COM port 2) i used straight cable as suggested by u n now the system is working fine but the official AB 1771-DB BASIC manual tells to do cross cabling instead of straight cabling neways thnx for the help Regards Nilesh
