  4. comms puzzle

hi all, thanks for replies/ideas. ken when you mention the computer must be configured for dh485 do you mean under rslinx or in windows port setup,i take it i use the 1747-pic/aic driver .i am using a mits e300 hmi and have it connected as recommended. The length of network is only a meter or so.
  5. hi all, i am having a bit of a problem with a project that i am doing ,the set up is a slc 500 5/03 cpu which has a hmi connected via a 1747-aic to channel 1 ,cable goes from channel 1 to j1(cpu)on the 1747-aic then from j2(peripheral) to the hmi. channel 0 on the 5/03 is being used for a df1 connection to a pc which i need to maintain but i also need to free this channel 0 for the connection to a display unit. I thought the easiest way would be to use the dh485 terminal block on the 1747-aic to connect to a 1761-net-aic dh485 block then use the sub9 pin port on this unit to connect to the pc thus freeing up the channel 0 on the 5/03 ,this i tried but unable to get the pc to talk to the plc .all leds on the 1761-net-aic are on except for the one below the dh485 terminal block .i had a look on ab site found a diagram of a simalar thing except that the connection from 5/03 to 1747-aic goes from ch1 to j2(peripheral) on the aic & they use j1(cpu) to connect to a panelveiw. can this be the problem or is the 1761-net-aic playing up. any ideas or veiws would be welcome i do also have another 1747-aic & a 1746-ke at my desposal . terry
