  1. I think you've just solved the mystery! I noticed that the two laptops involved do have NT/2000 installed. They are old IT hand-me-downs. Normally they come to us with the OS's removed and I install Win-98 for use with our DOS based PLC software. Your tip shoud help us in the future as we are phsing over to new HP wireless laptops with XP-PRO installed.. Thanks, -Andy GP- Camas
  2. Greetings, We've been having problems lately with RSLogix-500 installing it's own driver on our laptop PC com ports. I found that if I edit the drive manger and remove RSLogix-500's ab-xxx driver and reboot, the Windows system will reinstall the default standard driver and our electricians can then go ahead and use TISoft 7.0 again. If we don't do this work around TISoft gives the operator a com port error and they bring me their laptop saying it's broken. I've used this work around several timers now on different laptops and it seems to work. My question is, how can we stop RSlogix-500 from leaving its com port driver installed once a user sessions has been completed... 3. Greetings, We just purchased two new HP laptops - we call them PPU's- for use by our PLC troubleshooters. With these new laptops we now have USB ports avaible. In the past we've had to carry asround a bucket full of modified RS-232 cables in order to communicate with our various brands of PLC's. So, I'm wondering if there are unique USB/RS-232 adapters on the market that plug into various brands of PLC's. 4. Hey! You guys are raving geniuses! - I download the 995PDF file system and it slid right past our network IT admin restrictions. Loaded, worked as advertised first time - and I was able to save a Printout of our latest updated AB program on to our local network. THANKS!!!! -Andy
  5. Wow! That was quick response time - must be lots of users here. Well, MS Word we have a site liscence for, all our network PC's are equipped with it. But I do get PDF files from Enegineering all the time and my PC has the software ( it's free anyway I think to decode) to read it. Good idea, I'll hound the IT troops into getting me a copy of Adobe PDF writer. I'm glad I found this place. I passed a MRPLC link along to several other Electricians/Enginners here... Thanks! -Andy GP-/Koch {Pending} Camas Mill
  6. Greetings, I'm new to this forum and AB software. Just got RSLogics-500 PLC program fired up and made a few printouts of updated PLC programs to save on out local mill-wide network. We save all our other PLC printout files in MS-Word format so anyone on the network can download it and make a local hard copy. So far, I see no way to convert the RSLogics-500 printout to MS-Word format. I can't even find the output print file. I'm used to using Siemens/TI Tisoft 7.0 where one can send printouts to a local printer or a file... Thanks, Richard Anderson PLC Documentation Georgia Pacific Corp.
