  1. Omron & ABB Drive using Modbus

I am looking at a new project with (3) ABB drives controlled by an Omron PLC that will operate the drives in a lead/lag sequence. The customer wants to utilize the built-in Modbus protocol on the drives. I have used the CJ1M with an SCU before, but just for barcode scanners and only in RS232 mode. I want to feel confident that I am not adding too much time by using (and trying to figure out) a custom PMCR when I might get another PLC with a Modbus option that would be faster to implement. I am most comfortable with an Omron PLC and I know it will provide great service for other parts of this project. I have read most of the post about the Macro I can download and they seem to be happy with it, but none of them were exactly like this project. I just wanted to bounce these comments/questions off someone to get some feedback. Also, if you have other cost effective ideas, for controlling the drives, that do not include Modbus, please feel free to elaborate. Thank you.
