Posted 26 Nov 2019 (edited) Hello We have just purchased some equipment with a Control Logix 5561 (1756-L61/B Rev 13.40). The compact flash card is missing from the unit but the seller says the unit was running in his facility prior to shipping. Does the 5561 have internal memory where a program is stored? Is the Compact Flash used only for recipes and persistent data? Thank you Edited 26 Nov 2019 by Kevinppl
Posted 26 Nov 2019 You should be all set as long as the Processor battery is good.
Posted 26 Nov 2019 The CF card can be used to back the program up so it recovers from a "fault" (not all faults). For instance if loss of power corrupts the program it'll reload it. The downside to that is that every time you change the program you have to dump it back to the card. Every time you dump it back to the card the PLC halts and your "stuff" shuts down. Personally, I think the card slot is best left empty. YMMV

Örneğin, güç kaybı programı bozarsa yeniden yükler. Bunun dezavantajı, programı her değiştirdiğinizde onu tekrar karta atmanız gerektiğidir. Karta her geri bırakışınızda, PLC durur ve “eşyaların” kapanır. Şahsen, kart yuvasının en iyi boş bırakıldığını düşünüyorum. YMMV genelde olmuyor

Some can't. We stopped using CF cards years ago because techs were making minor program changes and not backing the program up to the card because it required a shutdown. If there was a power failure or the PLC was rebooted for some reason it would load the program from the card and cause problems.
