Posted 21 Sep 2017 I'm using direct soft 5 and i want to use an encoder to measure length. My problem is i can't seem to understand how to use the V memory/registers
Posted 22 Sep 2017 That's a very open question. Do you have experience with any other PLCs? The 'V' memory is generally not assigned by type except for counter and timer accumulators and various system locations. The manual for the specific CPU details these. Posted 22 Sep 2017 I've used Allen-Bradley as well but just for basic plc programming nothing to elaborate. It's just that what i have to do this time requires the use of an encoder and HMI. I have a direct logic 6 plc and a C-more hmi but i'm having a hard time figuring out how to use the V memory
Posted 23 Sep 2017 I provide a bit of information for those working with Directsoft who have Allen Bradley experience. It starts here - http://theplcguy.com/ABtoAD/Introduction.htm As part of this I provide a table of AB to DL memory usage here - http://theplcguy.com/ABtoAD/DL06%20Memory%20Types.html Let me know if I can help in other ways. Posted 26 Sep 2017 Thanks b_carlton that info was a big help. I'm trying to setup a high speed counter using a CTRIO module and a rotary encoder for measuring length I can sure use some help with that
Posted 26 Sep 2017 The CTRIO module has its own manual. Download and read it. It has a lot of examples. When Directsoft is installed it has the option for loading example programs also. I believe there arre some CTRIO examples in there.
