Posted 16 Jul 2014 Recently while looking through some RSLogix 500 code written by a third party vendor on a plc in service at one of our process units I noticed multiple address's with the following or similar syntax: F[79]:[83]. I assume this file structure is an indirect address but not sure. Could someone explain this file structure as I have been unable to find any examples/explanations? Posted 16 Jul 2014 (edited) A standard display of an indirect address reference would have 'N' address references between the '[ ]'. With the ladder window selected go to 'View' - 'Properties'. Choose the 'Address Display' tab. Check 'Display value for indirect address' to show the value the indirect 'N' register contains instead of just the address. (This is obviously most useful at runtime to see the current value being used as the indirecct address. The 'N' register reference is most useful in a printout.)
