Mitsubishi File Register Memory Usage

2 posts in this topic

I am adding a counter to a program on a QCPU Qmode and I need to use a memory area that is battery backed. The Data Register is not configured to be battery backed, but it seems that the File Register is. When I checked for used and unused words in the File Registers I was able to find words that were showed as not being used, but when I monitored the File Register via GX Works all of the words had data stored in them. I am wandering if the data that is in the File Register words that are showed as unused is data that is just junk data that was left when the File Register was configured or how can I verify that it is not data that is being used by the controller. Thanks Dirk

Hi, It's possible to select the latched memory area for the Q-CPU, at least for the ones I've been using. Attached is a picture from GX IEC Developer showing how to select latch areas for the D-registers on a Q02U.
