AB Powerflex 700 600HP Drive

2 posts in this topic

We have a 600HP Pwerflex 700 VFD with a Panelview 500 (#2711-K5A5L11P, Ser.H, Rev.B, FRN 4.006) Has anyone ever upgraded this HMI to a newe style. AB is saying this is obsolete and they have none in the puipeline for repairs. Ours is still running fine but would like an alternate plan. An upgrade from AB is upwards of $30K... Any ideas or experiences to share? Thanks.....

Is this a low-voltage PowerFlex 700VC, a special PowerFlex 700S system drive, or a medium-voltage PowerFlex 7000 ? Was the PanelView terminal built into the drive system by RA, or is this something an integrator put together ? Is the $30,000 price for an upgrade of the whole drive system or just the HMI ? I know RA used the PanelView Standard as the base hardware for an application-specific terminal for the PowerFlex 7000 drives. I never saw the same thing done for large PowerFlex 700 drives but it may have been done. The part number is what concerns me; 2711-K5A5L1 would be an ordinary Keypad model with DH485 protocol on RS-232 wiring. But the "1P" on the end of the part number suggests that this is a special device with custom firmware just for working with the drive. Edited by Ken Roach
