Restoring accumulator values in CLX

3 posts in this topic

Hi Guys I was wondering if there's a way to make it easy to restore accumulator values after you download new code to the PLC. Obviously, if the code was developed offline, it won't have the current accumulator values. There's ways around this, like keeping a record of current values, reloading, and then "forcing" the values after the new code is loaded. But is there an easier, automated way of doing this? I was wondering if using a historian, you could have a historian server write values back to the PLC. Don't know if that's possible though. anyone have any ideas for this?

There are a couple of ways I can think of: the OPC Tag Upload/Download Tool, or the RSLogix 5000 Data Preserved Download Tool. RA Knowledgebase articles discussing both: https://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32503 https://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/54946 The OPC Tag Upload/Download Tool works with PLC/SLC as well as ControlLogix family controllers, but requires a licensed edition of RSLinx Classic. The Data Preserve tool is for ControlLogix family only.
