Yes ! That's one of the standard configurations in A-B's "Connected Components Building Blocks" demo and application set. http://www.rockwellautomation.com/components/connected/blocks.html You need a 1763-NC01 cable to break out the RS-485 pins on the MicroLogix to connect up to the PowerFlex serial communications port. Start with the "Simple Speed Control" overview in the Standard Drives Building Blocks at the link above.

We do this setup in almost every one of our machines which use AB (and we use a similar setup with AutomationDirect CPUs). Use the breakout Ken noted. On the Powerflex use the 'AK-U0-RJ45-TB2P Terminal Block Connector'. The wiring is then nearly foolproof. The MSG instructions make sending and receiving information very easy. Just wait for the previous message to either finish properly (DN) or have a problem (ER) before starting the next message. We've hooked up many drives on one cable, giving a unique modbus address to each drive. The 'Modbus' section of the Powerflex manual gives almost all the information you would ever need. If you have any problems please post back.

I just want to add it's ok to use M1100 with 1763-NC01 but don't try it with M1200 or M1500 you could damage plc. ref tech note #38319 http://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/38319/kw/38319

Can I get an RJ-45 and a 8 pin connectors to build this cable? Also, for HMI I have gotten 2 files: Speed_Control_C600_Ethernet_C0_04.cha Speed_Control_C600_Ethernet_C0_06.cha I have opened both in CCW, but looks to be the same, do you know wich is the difference? Thanks a lot Edited by asteroide
