Communicating between my PLC and my PC

3 posts in this topic

Hello. I've got a S7-300, and I would like to develop an application on my PC to read from their DB's and other outputs. I've got some questions: 1) I've got Prodave v5.5. Is it right to perform the application? Which version of Visual Basic do I need? 2) Could I work with Prodave and PLCSIM at the same time? 3) What is WinCC? Thank you very much. Regards.

Hello, What's Prodave? WinCC is a scada (HMI) software package, with this software you're able to visualize all data that is in your PLC in a graphical sense. In the latest version of WinCC (ver 6.0) Siemens have included VBS (visual basic scripting) With this tool it's very easy to get some data out of the PLC and put into a SQL-database, access or excel (ODBC). WinCC has also an Microsoft SQL-server inside. There has also been a topic about connecting VB to an S7 but I need to look it up. Rudi

Hello, I found it, there's also a manual included. If you send me an email i'll send the software back. Rudi.frederix@celaneseacetate.com
