  1. Restore PLC communication to Panelview

Thank you for the info. I think the battery is OK, but  I've posted a new topic here in regards to best practices w/ some further questions.. http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?/topic/33138-best-practices-standard-operating-procedures-compactlogix-panelview/
  2. I had communication working between panelview and PLC by changing the IP of the panelview to same network as PLC. A maintenance tech removed the IO module with the machine running and we have now lost communication.  It gets stuck now loading the RsLogix symbols. After 5 min. It lets me continue, but I see ? Instalead of sensor values. when I go to terminal settings on panelview and set to dhcp, it loads the RsLogix symbols and the program, but I still get the ? Marks instead of values.. i also noticed the IO led on PLC is now off and am pretty sure it was on when all was working.. any advice?? Thanks for your time
  3. Restore PLC communication to Panelview

The problem is solved!  The program was somehow lost from the PLC.  I found someone w/ the software to reload the program to the PLC and all is working now!
  4. Restore PLC communication to Panelview

Thank you.  From what I can tell by reviewing the manual is that I will pretty much need the RSlogix software to make changes and further test the PLC.  We don't need to make any changes to the program etc, once it's running, so it is not worth it for me to buy this.   My next step, I'm assuming, is to find someone local who has the software??   BTW. We are in Sarasota FL, if anyone is close by.
  5. Restore PLC communication to Panelview

Thank you.  so it seems, based off the manual, that I/O light off means the following.. 1. There are no devices in the I/O configuration of the controller. 2. The controller does not contain a project. Assuming it's option 2, Is it possible to reload the project to the controller w/o Rockwell Software (IE: flash card)..  I should have all necessary files.  I've loaded a .mer to the PanelView in the past, but have never had to load to the PLC.. Assuming it's option 1, I'm not sure what I should try here.  Thanks for the help.
  6. Restore PLC communication to Panelview

Thanks Joe, how would I look for PLC faults.  BTW. The maintenance Tech didn't remove the whole module, he removed the wiring from inside.  I cannot figure out how to remove the actual module.  I followed along this video, but ours still seems locked in place and I cannot remove it.  I do think the IO module is working as when I manully open a valve, the sensor lights light up. The IO Light on the PLC is not lit though.  I think this is the problem.  The IO module is no longer talking to the PLC.
  7. Restore PLC communication to Panelview

    It is CompactLogix L32E
  8. Find password from .mer or .apa

I got it working!!! Thanks everyone for the help.  I noticed in my pictures that the PV was on different subnet as pcmcartney1 mentioned.  I figured out how to change the IP of the panel view to the same subnet and it is working now!!  So glad i found this forum. Thanks again for all of the help!!
  9. We have a sterilizer w/ Allen Bradley controls which we bought at auction.  It has a panelview plus 1000.  It came with a CD containing .mer and .apa files.  I was able to load the .mer file via the configuration screen by using the external CF card.  When I run the application, their is a login button in the bottom right which when pushed brings up a user/password screen.  We do not know the user/password for this.  Is it possible to find the password by somehow reviewing the files.  We do not have any software, and do not want to make any changes to the program (rather than changing the password).  I've attached the files in case anyone can help. Also, was i correct to load the .mer file??  or should I be using the .apa?  I followed these instructions here. http://www.judiwa.com/2010/10/05/how-to-copy-panelview-plus-application-with-compact-flash-card/ Thanks for your time PA1525_PVP1000.mer PA1525_PVP1000.apa
  10. Find password from .mer or .apa

Here are some more pics from PV config mode where i found IP info..
  11. Find password from .mer or .apa

Actually now that i think about it, i think you are reffering to the config mode of PV.  Yes i can get there.  Could you provide steps as to what I should be looking for?  i navigated through the network setup section but as i mentioned am newb and not sure what I'm looking for.  I did find the IP of the PV.
  12. Find password from .mer or .apa

Great thank you.  Do you know how to get to the PV's communication and view the shortcut??  I am newb but follow directions well.  Their is an external CF card plugged into the PLC.  It has a Logix folder, and a System Volume Information folder on this card.  I can upload if helpful.
  13. Find password from .mer or .apa

No, i believe the manufacturer is  Getinge.  Here is an attachment of the screenshot i am getting
  14. Find password from .mer or .apa

Thanks everyone for the info!  I tried the three usernames with no password, but no luck..  I found a sticker on the machine for Gettinge (the manufacturer) I called the number and they were able to give me the username and password!! Now i am logged in, but appear to be getting no communications from the PLC. I'm getting ? instead of values.. One thing to note is that the original machine, the panelview had a corrupt internal flash card, so i ordered a used panel view logic module and used that flash card in my module.  Maybe that's causing a problem??
  15. Thanks for the info. Upon further testing, I believe the internal flash card of the panelview is corrupted. I've removed the card and upon creating an image encountered corruption errors. I restored the image to a new card (SanDisk 16gb) and it loaded to the DOS screen (starting services) but froze their and never loaded windows. With the corrupted card, it loads the blue windows background but nothing else. i have some engineers coming Tuesday to see if they can find the issue as well.
  16. Thanks for your time.  We have purchased from auction a Getinge Autoclave (sterilizer) with Allen-Bradley controls (CompactLogix L32E).  The machine has a PanelView Plus 1000 installed.  A CD came with the machine w/ the following files.. HMI Project - (.apa file) Runtime (.mer file) Their is also a compact flash card installed in the CompactLogix L32E.  On the Panel View, their is an external Compact Flash slot, but no card, and on the inside of the panel view (if i remove the back cover) their is a compact flash card slot with a card installed.  I haven't checked what is on either of those cards yet.. We cannot get the program to load on the panel view. When the machine is powered on, the panel view goes through a quick dos setup screen and then the screen turns blue and we are stuck with an hour glass icon.  The icon will move depending upon where you touch on the screen.  I can boot the panel view in safe mode (by hitting the default button, then reset) at which point I get a message stating that the machines files may be corrupted and leaves me the options to Download new Firmware, or Continue.  Hitting Continue nothing happens, and choosing Download gives me Ethernet, or Serial options.  The Panel View is connected to the PLC via ethernet so I choose this option and it  gets stuck at this point. We do not want to make any changes to the program, but just to get it to run on the machine.  We do not have ANY of the software. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Craig
