  1. Do I need RSVeiw32 to Log Data?

    Thanks Ken
  2. What could cause a ML110 to error out for watchdog timer fault all of a sudden [Twice today]? There hasn't been a change to the program [8 rungs] and the only thing connected to it RSView32 trend graph and this isn't displayed most of the time. We were/are have some network problems today but I don't have and faults set for communication errors. I am getting to walk out the door from work and will think about this on the drive home. Attached is the basic program minus some logic that does counting [The counter ACC was at 7 during the first fault]. Any ideas? Thanks, Bob MOLDHEAT_REV_AD.RSS
  3. I did and they said it is either noise or it is starting to fail. I asked about ethernet coms and he had not heard that the coms itself causing an issue with scan times. I just reloaded a program and I am going to watch to see if it faults. I will let you know what I find out.
  4. I could not find a technote in the knowledge base about this issue with the ML1100. I could put this EQU S:6 2 OTU S:1/13 at the end of Lad 2 but I would like to find out what is going wrong. Thanks, Bob
  5. No program and an external power supply. Attached is a zip shot of the screen Fault_on_Mold_Heat__11.zip
  6. Thanke guys I by-passed the ML1100 and then killed power to it before I left since it is just to monitor water flow and so they could run production. While driving home I decided to call the guys and have them power the ML110 back up so I could pull the program out when I got home, but there was no program in it when I connected. So do these units clear themselves when faulted on a power cycle? Edit: I just looked at the error code and this time it is S:6 = 2h Unexpected hardware watchdog timeout or an ASIC reset occurred and this one is different from the first one.
  7. TWControls, I still think of myself as a novice but I have taught myself [ No one to turn to at work] with a lot of help from this site and Phil’s about RSView32 and have placed 35 plus ML1500 on our network, weight control applications using a 5/03 with the Hardy Waver Saver along with reporting in MS Access for our external customers. I have also done a number of small things around the plant and the vision systems that I am currently installing more of and trying to work with VB. I have been attempting to learn all this since 2003. If my ramblings haven’t answered your question please let me know and I will try again. Hope this helps,Bob
  8. I am going to be installing a number of flow switch through out the plant and my boss asked what is would take to go wireless instead of pulling network cables to each machine. I am using the ML1100, RSLinxGateway, and RSView32 and we are going to monitoring water flow, and the number of time an alarm has been set. Any ideas or recommendation is appreciated. Thanks, Bob
  9. I went to Ron’s class and it is well worth the money. I have never had any formal training on PLC and just his method of predicting program flow with 1’s and 0’s made the class worth while. Some may already know this stuff but to me it was well worth it and this was just the first day of class. Every night I left class I was mentally drained more so then normal. I highly recommend his class. Hope this helps, Bob O
  10. TWControls, I have “stuff” going on outside of work so I will look into your questions next week. Thanks Bob
  11. No. When you connect through remote desktop you are actually on the computer you are connecting to so you will be using the software on that computer. Therefore, RSLogix5000 would have to be installed on the computer you are connecting to, not on the one you are using to dial in with. Clear as mud? A side note is that I have not been able to start RSLogix500 using remote desktop [i get an error] but that has not been an issue with me since I keep it running in the tool bar. I think I could find out why I cannot but at this time, it is not an issue with me. Hope this helps, Bob
  12. I am doing the same thing as snorkel. I have a server at work with XP pro and remote desktop that I can access from home or across the country. A couple of weeks ago while taking Ron’s course I need to get access and I was able to use the hotels wireless network and my laptop. I second the opinion that remote desktop is much faster then VPN. Hope this helps, Bob
  13. I went so far as to download the trial version of 5000 to see if it would add a file to the system allowing me to connect to the ML1500 through the ENI module using RSLinx Gateway.
  14. I have it installed but trn psycho and I have the same problem I think. I have a call into tech support about this but I think it may have been lost. Oh well. Thanks
  15. Do you have to have RSlogix5000 installed for this to work with the ML1500 RTC? I tried to sync. the RTC on some ML1500 that are connected to the network with ENI's but didn't have any luck. Any ideas if this will work? Thanks
  16. SCADA section POLL

I think it is fine the way it is.
  17. Reply typed in word. Copy and paste in reply window with default settings Using FireFox Font Normal Arial Narrow size 10 I have always had problems with the double space
  18. Vacuum application

I want to say I have seen some of them with a screen in the bottom of the cup that could act as a filter and you could also pulse some air back through the cup after the cycle to blow off any dust that has accumulated. Hope this helps, Bob
  19. AWT, ST FILE and CH0

I have not done what you are asking using the AWT but I will try to help with the creating of the String [sT] file. You need to create the ST file first by right clicking on Data file -> New -> type -> String and then enter how many elements you would like. Hope this helps, Bob O.
  20. I have a question for those that use or integrate vision systems. What is your acceptable % of a good part being rejected? I am normally in the range of 0.0% - 0.2% and always looking to make it better but I have had people tell me that if it is <= 1% they do not even worry about it. Thanks, Bob
  21. You will need a floppy to start with but this utility software will allow you to move your activation to the USB memory stick and then you can use this instead of the floppy. http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=490 I am sure someone will provide advice on the USB to serial converter. Hope this helps.
  22. If the OP just wants the CD, couldn’t he ask his local support since he has the important part [Activation Disc?] Side note… I do not know if it is still this way or if all RS software was this way but the sample CD for the software contained the actual software and you just needed the activation disc. At least this is what I was told by local RA support a number of years ago.
  23. What spy-ware, Ad-ware, and anti-virus software do you run on your computers? I run spybot search and destroy, Ad-Aware Se and the anti-virus software that my ISP provides [Cox Cable]. I also use FireFox instead of IE since I read it was better. I have Win XP Pro SP1 and no know problems but just curious what others are running. Thanks, Bob
  24. Vision System Part Rejects

Sorry I have not replied sooner. It is nice to get confirmation and hear what others are striving for reject wise. I just check a line from home, I am at .01%, total fail, and this is on a problematic label from the factory. Here is a link to what we are manufacturing on this line. http://www.bluebunny.com/WhatsNewInnovations.aspx I am inspecting for proper job number on the lid and container. The lid travels on a flat conveyor and does rotate in the horizontal plane a bit so I have to track that which isn't to big of an issue. The biggest problem with these is if the print registration is off. I have to do certain things in the product file to account for the worst case and then all is well. The container travels upside down and rotates causing the job number to shrink and grow depending on its position when inspected. This really is not too big of an issue any more since I believe I figure out the tricks for it. Now I need to investigate inspecting the whole container for imperfections. $$$$$$$$ Edit..Sorry about the link. My links never seem to work when I insert them.
  25. Keyence 24VDC Sensor Test Box?

If I need to test a sensor I use a single 9 volt battery wired up to a M12 and this has worked fine every time, at least with Sick sensors.
