Hello, my name is Charles Vance: Certified Archestra Developer: I am a consultant providing software based systems solutions to the oil and gas industry having spent a career designing, programming, commissioning and supporting software systems in real-time for many Fortune 100/500 corporations. Over the course of my years of experience I have participated in many challenging startups of automated processes in a wide array of industries from the manufacture of durable goods to food and drug processing, pulp and paper, chemical,munitions, nerve agent neutralization, power, crude discovery, recovery, processing and distribution including upstream, downstream, and midstream operations. During that time I discovered that my unique ability is to quickly identify where a project has gotten off track and then from a deep understanding of automation technology get the project back on track. My approach to team leadership is very “hands on”, I consider myself an integral part of any team I lead and enjoy rolling up my sleeves to help grind out the solution. Programmable Logic Controller I started my career as an electronics technician in the video arcade games industry eventually gravitating toward industrial electronics and programming of Programmable Logic Controllers for complex machine control applications. A desire to always be learning lead me to gain skills in the area of interfacing personal computers to the plant floor controllers. I progressed in knowledge and gained experience with these systems in the school of hard knocks using experience as my teacher. Although experience may be the best teacher, I recognized a need to formalize my programming and design skills completing requirements for a degree in Computer Science in 2012. Wonderware Archestra: System Platform For the past ten years I have specialized in Wonderware Archestra based systems in both HMI and SCADA. I completed requirements for certification as a system developer in both Intouch and System Platform in 2008 re-certifying in 2014. I received my Wonderware Archestra Training “on the job” successfully completing two major projects as a team member than as a team lead completed a fully redundant system platform implementation from “bumper to bumper” discovering step by step how to create a robust Archestra system using the application guide provided by Wonderware. I have extensive experience extending System Platform and Archestra Graphics functionality using C# skills to create many productivity and information gathering tools leveraging GRAccess and MSSQL.
