  1. Just so I can hunderstand a bit more (by the way tancks for all your good infos): When I type a url, a Server which has in "bank" where it should point, directs my request to the appropriate IP address on the Web. If I call for a Web page it will also be directing me to a port. So if I call for www.microsoft.com this server could be sending my request to something like 207.46.156.88:80 . Does everything uses ports ? (I know it is a silly question but :( ) If so then the ping command ... what port will it be directed to ? How does a ping request looks like? How is it build?

  2. When you outsource you set the specifications and this cannot have been just something they forgot. AB deciced and they have to live with it. The first time I connected to a Micrologix I was looking for the ONLINE edit. Could not find it but kept on looking. When I was told by a partner that you could not I told him "No way! Its impossible." Well it was. One of the problem with softwares having been included in there own "profit center" is that you have to pay for a bunch of programmers which yearly wages have to be justified. They need to come up with new stuff every years so they can proove that they at least do some work. RS softwares are not bad, they have many very nice features, I just dont like to upgrade so often. Not to talk 'bout the price they charge for this. One of the thing I really like is when yoou COMPARE two versions and you have two windos with the unequal rungs in red color showing which rungs don't match. You can then Copy&Paste between the versions. That's nice.

  3. I purchase a few of there HMI every month. I will purchase a PLC when I have time to play with it. The reasons I do purchase from them are: -Price is OK. -Product looks nice and works OK. -Very easy to make purchase and follow shipment on-line But the most important... CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have phone them 3 times and was treated with respect and courtesy, and I really felt that the poeple at the other end wanted to help me. They did there best. I almost never feel that way when I call other brand's service dept.

Elles conserveront leurs états haut (High=1) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hi just said to use the project configuration menu to decide the states of latched Bits after powering down or putting the PLC in Stop mode. ... And to use HR Bits IF he configures the PLC to reset the latched Bits BUT he still wants some of them to stay high.

  5. OK this one could be a bit of topics but its still usefull. How can I PING an intranet? Say I have a router on IP address 64.250.111.01 (fictive address) and I have past it some PLC or PC at addresses 192.168.1.2 and .3 ... I would like to PING them. I can PING my router but how could I pass through it to "see" whats in my remote network. I use Terminal Server to connect to the PC by forwarding its com port to the good inranet IP address but is there a way I coulds "see" whats in my network. This would save me on some driving to the shop when I cannot establish comunication... I could at least "see" if anybody is alive out there.

  6. Yes, they do have the upgrade "sale" and its cheap. They ask 350CAN$ through mail or $400 through there distributors. Today one OMRON rep I talked with could not tell me if I could at least give my clients some sort of way to have the labels with there Syswin. I told him that after I did the programming I wuold just download to one of my demo units with the CX-Programmer and Upload with Syswin BUT for this to make sense i needed to have some way to include the labels (thats a minimum) and the rung comments into theSyswin version I would give to my clients in the USA. He could not answer my question!!! He was not from the distributor he was directly from OMRON's Montreal office So tancks, then I could do it. Save the address symbols and the program in "statement list" and then re-import it into Syswin What about the "blocks" will I be able to also get them... I guess not? Wow, I have to go to sleep :-8 :-8 What time is it where your at anyway?

  7. Since some of my distinguished client have Syswin will I be able to at least export some of the Bits labels and descriptions IF I make my program with CX-dev? Like the AB export to ASCII and then importing even in APS... What are my options?
