Error downloading to PanelView 1000

2 posts in this topic

I am needing to modify the operator interface program on an Allen-Bradley PanelView 1000 that talks DH+ to a PLC-5/25. The operators need some additional features. I can easily upload the program out of the PanelView through out DH+ network. However, when I go to download the modified program, PanelBuilder32 stalls and gives an "Error 1030 - No commands received from operator terminal" fault. I tried uploading the existing program and then re-downloading the same program, but have the same fault error come back. I remember with the older PanelView 1200's that you had to turn a key switch to enable the download and upload. I could find no tech notes or knowledgebase articles on AB's website to point me in the right direction.

There is no keyswitch on the PV1000. This is from the Rockwell Knowledgebase: Problem: Error 1030 - No Commands Received From Operator Terminal Explanation: This error can occur during a DH+ to DF1 passthru (PC - DH+ - SLC 5/04 - DF1 - PV) if the PV is not set to the default node of 1. Since PV is point-to-point only, it serves no purpose to ever change the default DF1 node on the PV. However, the software will ALLOW this change if 'USE NETWORKING' is checked in the communications settings in PB32. Unfortunately, once you change the node to something other than 1, passthru downloads cease working. Often times, the upload functionality will still be working, making it seem like everything is ok. Resolution: Change the node number on the PV to node 1 (and then remove the check from the 'USE NETWORKING' checkbox). The passthru download should then complete normally. and: The customer was running a software package from Trend Micro called PC Cillin which prevented PanelBuilder32 from dowloading to the DH485 Panelview terminal via the SLC5/05 Ethernet controller. The firewall protection software must be disable from within PC Cillin before the download can proceed. Ensure the following bits are set correctly on the SLC5/05 - Status File, Chan 1 tab: DH485 Gateway Disable Bit S:34/0 = 0 DF1 Gateway Enable Bit S:34/5 = 0 and: This tech note attempts to qualify all passthru download combinations for PanelBuilder ND3 and END1. See also the passthru tables in the PB32 online help under contents, transferring applications, for the latest combinations. IMPORTANT: Passthru has occasionally been seen to crash/fault and/or clear memory on some processors (5/40,5/60,5/80) during the passthru operation. Make sure the PLC has not maxed out resources or block transfers. Make sure that the block transfer queue in the PLC is not full and that any BTs are not erring out. Keep all block transfers in the PLC as non-continuous if possible to minimize resource timeouts. Passthru only during non-peak times. With the PV1200/1000e/1200e/1400e, use the Inhibit, Request and Status bits in the PanelView to regulate the passthru operation for downloading; they do not apply to uploading. (the Standard PV's do not have these control bits). Download from www.ab.com/manuals under EOI. **************************************** MODEM DOWNLOAD ISSUES Most any download using the RSLinx DF1 driver can use modems. There is no need to attempt this with Interchange, we can now use RSlinx for both ND3 and END1 software. There is information on this error on the Rockwell Automation website. I found these and did not have to login to my account. It seem s that you may be losing communications to your panelview during the down load. Make sure there is no too much traffic on you DH+. You can always upload and download using the serial port on the panelview. This is the easiest way to ensure that the application is downloaded. Just hook up your serial cable, configure your driver and you are golden. Good luck.
