TIA Portal PLCSIM problem

5 posts in this topic

Hello guys, hope you're all fine.

I'm using Step7 professional v13 SP1 and facing a very annoying problem when trying to simulate my program. It was working before installing SP1 ! .

I have no problem when compiling hardware and software, it's all good. but I can't use the simulation because of the errors shown in the attached pic.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You can work around this problem by switching the interface to MPI before you launch the simulation.

To do this...

1) expand the "Online Access" section on the left

2) find the PLCSIM access point

3) right click to configure (I don't have access to TIA Portal right now, and I don't remember the exact text)

4) switch from PN/IE to MPI

5) now you are able to launch your simulation

Alternative workaround: change your device to one that supports PROFINET

If this fails for you, then I have probably given bad instructions. Reply and then I will double check when I have access to TIA Portal.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply.

When expanded the "Online Access" section, I found PLCSIM is already MPI as shown in pic

It didn't work with PROFINET device either.

The problem is in the "Online & Diagnostics" dialog. You have to click "ok" 18 times to dismiss that dialog.

If you do not open the "Online & Diagnostics" dialog, you should not see that error.

I believe that V13 SP1 Update 4 fixed this.

Can you install Update 4 or newer and see if that helps?
