CPU 414 with extn fault !!!!!!?

Hello ,

we have a station with two redundant cpu 414-4H ithe first cpu in the state to stop and signal an external default, an automation think there is a problem in the  cpu even if it does not display an internal error !!! !

me I want to know if this POSSIBILTE can happen and he really there's a chance that the cpu is defaulting and ( he does not arrive to display the internal default ? )

the second question is if it is replaced by another of the same cpu reference of course , there's a chance that he can go to run , so that START confirmed what this person said on the first  cpu ?
