Machine Monitoring/Data Collection Project

I am currently working on a new data collection/machine monitoring system. I plan to alert key personnel to machine stoppages using text messages. I plan to use a PC to do this. Has anyone any experience of a similar system? I am looking for a low cost way of doing this, ideally a free method. In case you are interested the system will consist of Mitusbishi FX1N's with E150 HMI's connected on a CC-Link network to an A or Q Series master PLC. Cheers Edited 9 Jun 2004 by antht

If you do not want to control the system (only monitoring) a cheaper and easier method is to connect with a simple DDE server and Excel application (or Visual Basic application). Xavi http://mitsuplc.tecnicos.org
